Playful Winter Socks

October 22, 2009

Whether it’s a pair of cantaloupe coral or Heineken green socks, adding a playful splash of color underneath your trousers demonstrates an unparalleled keenness to detail. Never underestimate the fashion statement that socks can make. Pick the right pair, and it can be the punctuation mark to your classic suit.

Scenario A) Guy sits down. Guy crosses legs. Guy’s trousers hike up to reveal a cringe-inducing sliver of his hairy legs underneath drooping, too-short socks: Fail.

Scenario B) Guy’s socks match the color of his pants. Plays it safe with standard black on black or navy: Acceptable, though boring.

Scenario C) He pairs gray wool trousers with frosted lilac socks. A jaunty, vivid hue, presented with humor and guts: Success.

Socks with subtle or bold patterns can also embellish an otherwise basic look. There are stripes and spots, paisley and floral, argyle and several psychedelic patterns to choose from. While Happy Socks is always a good source for an easy (and inexpensive) splash of color, here are some of our recent favorites.
